12 John Holt and Growing Without Schooling
John Holt (1923-1985) was an advocate of child-led homeschooling and founder of "Growing Without Schooling", a home education newsletter published between 1977 and 2001. In 1981, Holt published his only book on homeschooling, "Teach Your Own", which quickly became the "Bible" of the early secular homeschooling movement.
